General Notes
This is a fixed term position that ends four years from the employee’s start date.
Flexible work arrangements are available for this position, including the ability to work remotely (90%). Remote work for individuals who reside outside Texas but within the United States and its territories will be considered and requires Central Office approval.
This position provides a life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week, and travel limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses).

Purpose
The Enterprise Technologies-Campus Solutions department is seeking a talented, driven, and collaborative DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to streamline development, deployment, operations, and monitoring of our mission-critical enterprise applications. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with software development, IT operations, and project management teams to deliver robust solutions that accelerate innovation, increase reliability, and ensure scalability across our technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes for enterprise applications.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Provision, configure, and manage cloud-based resources using platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Configuration Management: Utilize tools like Ansible or Puppet to automate configuration, deployment, and management of servers and applications.
- Monitoring & Logging: Deploy monitoring and logging solutions with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk to ensure performance, availability, and rapid incident response.
- Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to ensure all systems adhere to organizational policies and industry regulations regarding data protection, encryption, vulnerability management, and access control.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) to ensure repeatability, scalability, and version control.
- Collaboration: Partner with development teams to integrate DevOps best practices throughout the software lifecycle, from development to production.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Serve as a technical resource for diagnosing production issues and implementing timely fixes, including root cause analysis and documentation.
- Process Improvement: Proactively analyze workflows, tools, and processes, recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer experience.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure, processes, and policies.
- Perform other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 2+ years of experience in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Software Development in a production environment.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitLab/gitHub.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms: AWS or Azure
- Hands-on experience with VMWare VM environments
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience with container technologies: Docker or Kubernetes
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or others.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools: Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities in a team setting.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications in cloud technologies (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
- Exposure to microservices architectures and serverless computing.
- Experience integrating DevSecOps practices.
- Familiarity with database administration (SQL, NoSQL, cloud databases).
Salary Range
$85,000 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift
Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, Occasional overtime and/or on-call may be requiredin emergencies
